Kaffeerösterei

Berliner Kaffeerösterei

Impressions

This coffee place is a must-visit while you are in Berlin.

Even though being located almost directly at the famous "Ku-Damm" and thus more in the touristy area of Berlin, this café is a jewel for the gourmets among yourselves.

To sum up the best aspects of this place: superb coffee with great latte art, an almost endless variety of coffee blends with specialty coffees from around the world, espresso roasts and blends, cakes and more from the home-made patisserie, teas, chocoloaterie and more ...all within one shop.

I have to admit that while the interior design is a little old-fashioned with a lot of dark wooden furniture, the quality and choice that you have here as a guest are simply overwhelming. I couln't stop gaping when I went inside the little shop with a small roastery, chocolaterie, tea and coffee purchase area and bar with an outlay of cakes and more. This is probably the most comprehensive offering of coffee specialties and other high-quality drinks and cakes I have seen so far.

The only small downside for me are the fact that the location is not too great, not offering a very cozy atmopshere/view, neither from the inside, nor when sitting outside. Apart from that, you should not miss this one.

Bean Awards

Taste

The cappuccino had an excellent taste, with a nice strong bean and great latte art. Aditionally, I tried the in-house roasted "Espresso Fancy Supremo" which was also very nice.

I did not try the cakes, but the fruit-joghurt breakfast was very tasty, although a bit expensive.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere is generally positive. Service is fast and friendly. In my opinion the inside sitting areas could use some more modern touch but it's fitting into the overall concept of the traditional, wooden patisserie/chocolaterie concept.

Value

This café is certainly not one of the low-budget places. However, considering that the owners follow (at least to some extent) the "direct trade" concept, thus trading directly with the farmers and therefore ensuring better prices for the coffee growers than with fair trade, it is a reasonable price.

Also considering that coffee is roasted by the employees/owners, I guess you can pay a little extra than usual.
