Simon Lévelt - Café & Shop in One
Impressions
Simon Lévelt is a coffee place and shop for premium coffee machine in one.
It is located in the centre of Groningen, just opposite of a more extensive Simon Lévelt shop.
The café consists of one big room with multiple tables in the middle and at the sides of the café. It is quite bright due to the number of large windows, which I found very pleasant.
It is definitely focused on serving high-quality coffee. The staff seems to be knowledgable about coffee and have experience as barista. (They even offer barista courses from time to time for a fair price).
Next to coffee, you can find a small chocolaterie selection, cookies and smaller snacks but not really catered for lunch or any other meals.
Great coffee and nice to stroll around in the shop and admire the coffee machines...
Bean Awards
Taste
The cappuccino was great even if it was quite special due to the vanilla flavored bean that was used that day. But you can certainly also tell which type of coffee you prefer.
Great strong taste with little bitterness and amazing barista art (see latte art above).
I could have had another one :)
Atmosphere
Nice coffee, but lacking a little bit of attention to detail in my opinion. It could be a bit more cozy and comfortable since you do not really forget that you are in a little shop after all. Apart from that great friendly service and good location.
